I took this photo at Passo Giau in 2025 on an autumn dawn, just as the first rays of the rising sun began to appear on the rock. At this moment, the rock glows with a reddish-pinkish light in the rays of the rising sun.

Before the sun fully rises above the horizon, the mountains of Passo Giau awaken in silence beneath the soft colors of dawn. Then, almost imperceptibly, the first rays of light touch the towering cliffs, painting the stone in glowing shades of rose, crimson, and ember. This fleeting phenomenon, known as enrosadira, transforms the cold rock into something warm, alive, and almost dreamlike.

The valley below still rests in shadow, wrapped in the cool blue tones of early morning, while the peaks catch fire one by one beneath the arriving sun. The contrast feels magical—as though the mountains are holding the memory of the night while already welcoming the new day. In these precious moments, the Dolomites seem suspended between two worlds: darkness and light, silence and awakening.
